Alex & Bryne's Rose Valley Wedding
*Posted by Matt*
Returning to venues that you have worked at frequently creates an interesting dilemma. While it's great to be back somewhere that you're familiar with, you don't want to recreate the same images you've done for one couple over-and-over again. For you, and for the new couples.
For us, weddings at The Old Mill in Rose Valley pose one of those interesting venue challenges.
We've been there a handful of times (even our own founding partner Natalie was married there!) so when Alex and Bryne brought us along for their wedding, we had to get creative!
It helps when you have amazing and creative couples to work with.
We kicked off the day with some getting ready at The Inn at Swarthmore before descending upon the Old Mill for the bulk of the festivities.
They wanted to get portraits done with before the ceremony so we went with a first look near the bamboo wall. Always a great choice! The brides' flowers and the lavender bridesmaid's dresses really stood out in front of the lush greenery. We had to work a little quickly because the heat was an issue but it just added to the fun!
The outdoor ceremony went off without a hitch (unless you count a well-time severe eye roll from the bride as a 'hitch', we thought it was hilarious). Then, after a few more formalities, we made our way inside to cool off and get ready for the reception.
Now, like we've said, we've been to the Old Mill before. But this was the first time they used a new lighting setup, and it looked fantastic. They used dozens of hanging Edison bulbs (yay!) to light the venue. That little bit was enough to really make the place stand out even more.
To top it all off, Bryne had a surprise for the Alex and everyone there. Apparently, they had discussed learning a dance for their first dance but weren't able to make it happen. So he went ahead and learned the song (Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home") and played and sang it in front of everyone.
Gave us chills!
