Betsy & Sarah's Racquet Club of Philadelphia Wedding
*Posted by Matt*
January weddings can be hit-or-miss when it comes to weather and other factors. You can plan all you want but sometimes you just have to roll with what comes your way. Snow? Sleet? Bitter cold? Whatever is going to happen, happens.
Betsy and Sarah decided to take that chances with their late-January wedding at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia. They were punished for their decision with mid-50s weather and a beautiful, sunny day. (We're kidding about the punishing part, obvi ;)
In order to defend against potential inclement weather we put a plan together to keep them within a few blocks for the whole day. We started out by getting ready at the Warwick Hotel downtown before heading over to do a first look at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia, their ultimate destination for the evening. After we got the first look and a few portraits out of the way, we took the brides to South Broad Street for the iconic wedding portrait near City Hall. Then we met up with everyone for bridal party portraits at Rittenhouse Square.
While we were walking to Rittenhouse, a guy playing the violin even stopped mid-song to switch to some wedding music for the brides as they passed. It was so cool!
After some quick portraits around Rittenhouse we returned to the Racquet Club for some more wedding portraits on the Court Tennis court. Fun fact, it's only one of eleven court tennis courts in the whole country (at least according to their website it is)!
The rest of the night was filled with some of the most funny and heartfelt speeches we've ever been privy to hearing. When two awesome ladies are tying the knot and you hear "Excerpts from the opinion of Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, in Obergefell v. Hodges. With this decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the right to marry is guaranteed to ALL couples by the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the 14th Amendment." it is kind of hard to keep it together.
Betsy and Sarah, thank you so much for helping us start off the year on such a beautiful day!
