Smiling practice at the Art Museum in Philadelphia

It's hard to believe that we are just about two weeks away from Sudha & Andrew's Thanksgiving Day wedding! Sudha and I were roommates for four years before my wedding this summer and Matt and I are very excited for our first Indian wedding. I'll have plenty more to say about their big day soon enough, but for now I just wanted to share a couple fun images from a shoot we did a couple weeks ago.  Sudha is not the biggest fan of PDA, plus she prides herself on giving me (and pretty much everyone else too) a hard time. She put up a bit of a fight when we did the official engagement portraits last year and I told her she had to cuddle up with Andrew—and look happy about it! Now that she has accepted that fact, our next challenge was to help her feel comfortable in front of the camera. So, blessed with another beautiful October weekend, we met up behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art for some smiling practice.  She was much more cooperative this time and I think we may be able to actually get some happy-looking photos on her wedding day (despite her efforts to thwart us!) Engagement portraits at Elkins Estate near Philadelphia

Whew!  We have a ton of catching up to do!  October was such a fun month and we have so many engagement sessions and wedding photos to share—I wish I had the time to just post them all today, but you'll have to settle for one great couple at a time.  First up—Heidi & Frank! We met up with them at Elkins Estate, just north of Philadelphia, which will also be the site of their July wedding.  What an awesome location! This historic mansion in Montgomery County is situated on 42 acres and was built to the be the summer home for wealthy Philadelphians. This venue is the perfect location for any couple who appreciates great architecture. There are lots of arched doorways, winding staircases, porches with big columns, and that's just outside. We were happy to capture some engagement portraits during the fall with all the brightly colored trees around the property. The grounds will look very different during the summer months when everything will be in bloom.  Heidi & Frank have a very cool wedding planned and they definitely found a site that will compliment all their ideas.

Our couples benefit from our competition and we love stealing eachother's set-ups. While Natalie was setting up the portrait on the right, Matt snuck in the shot on the left.Couple sitting in Japanese Maple Tree with bright orange leavesJapanese Maple Tree in fall with couple sitting on branches

Best of South Philadelphia Engagement Portraits

Lindsey & Brad had perfect weather for their South Philly engagement portraits in late September. We met up with them at the Headhouse Square Farmers Market and then wandered down to end (or beginning?) of South Street and through the surrounding neighborhood. There is so much great architecture and cool doors everywhere, so we had a lot of fun choosing locations. Lindsey and Brad are such naturals in front of the camera, they made our job very easy.  They had no problem ignoring us and keeping their eyes on each other.  You can just tell how in love they are. I can't believe their wedding is just two weeks away — we're so excited to spend some more time photographing this very expressive couple!

Best of Mike & Stacy's Bethlehem Engagement Portraits

We met up with Mike & Stacy at Monocacy Park in Bethlehem a couple weeks ago.  They both love nature, and are planning an outdoor wedding ceremony with a barn reception in mid-October.  Stacy is planning lots of diy details and we can't wait to see the finished product!  Monocacy Park was a great location to showcase how happy these two make each other. They also brought along their golden-labradoodle pup to join in on the fun.
