Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Leslie & Scott's Seaport Museum Wedding

*Post by Matt*

We were so excited to photograph Leslie and Scott's Independence Seaport Museum wedding last September! During their engagement photos at Temple University and around the Race Street Pier just a few months before, we really got to learn their sense of humor so we knew we were in for some fun!

Leslie's two piece wedding gown was stunning, with a touch of vintage flair, and her flowing lace veil added such a beautiful final touch. Needless to say Scott was moved to  tears when he saw his bride walking down the aisle later that day! Leslie's girls looked just as great in their short, mint green bridesmaids dresses, each of which varied just slightly from the next.

After getting ready in Old City, we headed over to the Independence Seaport Museum along the banks of the Delaware river for the ceremony. During the ceremony, both Leslie's and Scott's vows moved each other and the entire crowd to tears. There was not a dry eye in the place!

The weather finally broke just in time for us to head out for bridal party portraits along the Delaware. Once it was time for just Leslie and Scott to step in front of the camera, the two just fell into place. Their sense of humor showed up when Scott had the great idea to literally be "blowing Leslie away" (see above) for a picture! It was a huge success, and such a fun bride and groom portrait idea.

The reception was incredibly fitting as this group had no hesitations about getting down on the dance floor, and took full advantage of the photo booth that we had set up on the side of the room.

The night was not complete until the fireworks began. You heard right: fireworks. The guests were in for a big surprise when the band asked everyone to step out onto the balcony and the light show began! It was the perfect ending to such a fun wedding, and really sent their special day off with a bang!

We could not have done it without the help of photographer extraordinaire Douglas Bovitt!

Leslise and Scott, your sense of humor and laid back persona really showed as your wedding day was so much fun in spite of the questionable weather! Thanks so much for bringing us along.

Philadelphia Wedding Photography: Marissa & Jeremy's Main Line Wedding

Marissa and Jeremy tied the knot last June on a gorgeous, sunny day that was perfect for their wedding at Pomme!

The girls, clad in matching embroidered blue robes, began their day with hair and makeup at the Philadelphia Marriott West, while the guys were getting ready in the same hotel, but in a separate room. It took a little maneuvering but the two groups were careful to avoid each other as they prepared to head over to Pomme, where Marissa got dressed with the help of her bridesmaids.

Her strapless wedding dress was breathtaking, and was accented at the waist with a beaded sash. Marissa wore bright fuchsia pumps to match her fuchsia bouquet and the fuchsia bridesmaid dresses that her girls wore. The bridesmaids all wore knee-length dresses, with the exception of the maid of honor, who wore a full length mermaid style dress!

Marissa and Jeremy had their first look at Pomme, outside on the bridge near the entrance. Jeremy was blown away by his bride-to-be, and the two were so ecstatic to start their big day together!

Marissa and Jeremy are both Jewish, (Jeremy is a Rabbi himself!) and had a mostly traditional Jewish ceremony. The men gathered for the Tish, and both Jeremy and Marissa's mothers came into the room at the end for the ceremonial plate breaking. Jeremy then met up with his bride during the Bedeken, where she was waiting for him to put her veil on.

After the Bedeken, the two signed the Ketubah, which Jeremy wrote himself, and began to make their way upstairs for the ceremony. Marissa made the beautiful Chuppah herself!

The reception, in true Jewish fashion, was lively, exciting and full of fun, complete with lots of spinning and the bride and groom being hoisted in the air sitting on chairs!

To top off the whole night, the newlyweds had two awesome cakes: a beautiful cupcake tower cake, and a Superman groom's cake for Jeremy!

Needless to say, it was a wedding to remember!

Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Sue and Gus's Morris House Hotel Wedding

May 31st, 2014 was the perfect day to get married, which is just what Sue and Gus did! The couple chose the most beautiful spring day for their wedding at the Morris House Hotel in the Washington Square West area of Center City Philadelphia, and we were so excited to be there to photograph their big day!

Sue's dress, a stunning beaded Monique Lhuillier wedding gown, fit perfectly with their art-deco theme, and she had the accessories to match: beautiful vintage jewelry and lace garters. The bridesmaids looked great in their gray bridesmaids dresses with pops of yellow from their shoes and flowers!

The girls got ready in the bridal suite of the Morris House Hotel, while the guys were also getting ready at the Morris House, but in a different area of the building. As both groups went out to take photos around the city, Natalie with Sue and her bridesmaids, and Matt with Gus and his groomsmen, we had to be careful not to run into each other!

The girls started out with portraits around Independence Mall, and headed over to Washington Square, while the guys took a different route around the city. Luckily, our timing worked out perfectly and both groups successfully avoided crossing paths. Sue and Gus did not want to see each other before the wedding!

Heading back to the hotel, it was finally time to start their outdoor ceremony in the Morris House courtyard. Sue and Gus exchanged their vows and said "I do" under a beautiful arch with a special good luck horseshoe hung above, and their rings were blessed in a special Irish bowl that was a bridal shower gift from Gus' Aunt Madeleine and Uncle Pete.

When the ceremony was over, we all headed over to Washington Square for some family portraits. One of our favorite photos was of all the kids running straight towards Matt's camera with Sue and Gus watching in the background!

We found some really cool spots around the Washington Square West area for portraits of Sue and Gus together, and then they headed back to the Morris House to join in their celebration! After all their bridesmaids and groomsmen made their entrances, the bridal party lined the dance floor holding sparklers as Sue and Gus entered to take their first dance.

The reception really started to pick up just as the sun was setting, making for a spectacular end to an amazing day.

Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Jim and Noreen's Glenside Wedding

Jim and Noreen were our last wedding of 2013, and they sure brought our year to a great close! They got married on November 23, 2013 in their hometown of Glenside, PA. Matt had known Noreen for a while before she and Jim became part of the Fairmount family, so this was an exciting wedding for us to be a part of!

Noreen and her bridesmaids started their day getting their hair and makeup done at Salon Belle Amie on Keswick Ave., and then they proceeded back to Noreen's parents’ house in Glenside to get dressed for the big day. Noreen's beautiful beaded wedding gown was adorned with a crimson red sash that hung down her back to complement the wintertime wedding theme that she and Jim had chosen. Noreen carried on the Irish family tradition of hiding an Irish Five Pence in her shoe, which had a "something blue" sole!

Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready at Jim and Noreen's house. Jim also had some Irish touches of his own: an Irish tie pin and a jeff cap for himself and his groomsmen. Before leaving for the ceremony, Jim decorated his shiny, blue 1968 Pontiac GTO with "Just Married" cutout letters that sprawled across the back window.

Jim pulled up to the ceremony at Saint Luke the Evangelist in his GTO and got ready to finally see his bride! The couple said "I do" in front of a full house of their family and friends, and they had a bagpiper play music throughout the ceremony!

Jim, Noreen and their bridal party took photos around the Arcadia University campus, which has beautiful stone staircases and arches that were perfect for some rustic wedding party portraits.

The lovely couple then headed over to take some photos at iconic Glenside locations including Penny's Flowers, where there was a sign congratulating the newlyweds out front, and the Keswick Theatre. Jim and Noreen had met at the Keswick Tavern where Jim was a bouncer, so it made perfect sense to take photos on Keswick Avenue.

Their reception at the Emerald Room in the Greater Northeast Philadelphia area was tastefully decorated for winter, and their over 300 guests had a great time!

It was definitely the perfect winter wedding to send Fairmount Photo into the new year, and we couldn't have had a better time!

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Melissa & Dave's Old City Wedding

Melissa and Dave's wedding was definitely the perfect kickoff to our 2014 wedding season! Melissa looked stunning in her beautifully beaded wedding dress, and arrived to the ceremony in style, pulling up to the church in a classic white car. Dave, a die-hard Phillies fan, adorned his tux with Phillies cufflinks!

Their ceremony at Saint Monica's church in South Philadelphia was decorated with beautiful winter flowers and festive lights. The purple bridesmaids dresses looked great, complimented by pops of purple in the groomsmen's lily boutonnieres.

After the ceremony, the bridal party braved the freezing cold temperatures and gusty winds to venture into Center City to take a photo in the middle of Broad Street, right in front of City Hall. Despite the snowdrifts that had amassed from a storm just a few days before the wedding, the whole group managed to hop onto the median, and gave us some great shots between shivers and goosebumps!

As the bridal party headed over to the Ballroom at the Ben to thaw out, Melissa and Dave kept going strong, taking some Bride and Groom portraits around Old City. They stopped at the Union League first and then sneaked in another picture in the middle of Broad Street, this time with twilight hanging like a backdrop in the distance. We then went to join the rest of the bridal party  for some more (warmer) bridal party pictures indoors.

Melissa and Dave had been so much fun up to this point, and their reception, held in the Ballroom at the Ben, did not disappoint, either. After the first dances, bouquet and garter tosses, the newlyweds cut into their gorgeous cake, and had a wedding-white themed candy bar for everyone who's sweet tooth needed a little extra kick!

To top things off, Melissa and Dave had an extra special guest show up! If you saw our post about Melissa and Dave's engagement session at Citizen's Bank Park, you'll remember that they are huge Phillies fans. So it should be no surprise that they had the Phillies mascot at their wedding! That's right, the Phanatic himself made an appearance. Everyone had a blast dancing with the Phanatic all night, and Melissa and Dave definitely had a great night to start off their new life together.
