Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Sara & Dustin's Old Mill Wedding

*Posted by Theresa*

Sara and Dustin tied the knot a few weekends ago with a ceremony at The Old Mill, and they could not have been in better spirits about what the day had in store for them. Both were elated to be surrounded by some of their best friends while getting ready at the Marriott in Conshohocken, and we could feel the excitement in the air from the moment we walked into the room.

Despite the foreboding forecast for the day, (there was a huge chance of rain from almost the start of the day, through the reception!) the two managed to stay calm, cool, and collected, and the rain actually held out for the first look, bridal party portraits and family portraits once we got to The Old Mill!

However, staying true to many of the weekends we have had this year, the weather decided to open up and pour rain RIGHT before the ceremony...which was supposed to be completely outside! The rockstar planners from cHill Weddings decided to jockey the timeline around a bit, and although the two had to ditch the outside plan, they still filled the venue with so many friends and family that it made the day no less special than they had hoped.

Sara and Dustin put their own special twist on all of the fine details at the reception: they made all the signs, centerpieces and decorations! (Think centerpieces made from paint stirrers and a seating card holder made from reclaimed shutters!)

We were so glad to be a part of their special day! Thanks, Sara and Dustin!

Lehigh Valley Wedding | Liz and Gavin's Allentown Wedding

Liz and Gavin took us back to our "home away from home" when we went back to Allentown in June for their wedding at the Renaissance Hotel!

To kick it all off, they had their ceremony at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Orefield before heading out for the celebration. On top of getting to revisit one of our locations for bridal party portraits at the Rose Gardens, we also had surprise visits by Taylor Swift, JFK, the Blues Brothers AND the Mummers. It was a pretty packed evening.

Check out the pictures to prove it but I promise Taylor Swift and JFK absolutely showed up. I swear.

Gavin's family has a tradition to dress up and dance as The Blues Brothers at weddings and family gatherings, so imagine 40-50 guys with top hats and sunglasses dancing around. Meanwhile, Liz's family has connections to the Mummers so they came out in full force as well!

And then, as if that wasn't enough, Gavin's dad and his band took the stage for a few songs to really pump up the crowd.

These two definitely put their own twist on how to celebrate a wedding. Congrats guys!

Philadelphia Engagement Photography | Jess & Bills Beach Engagement Portraits

*Posted by Matt*

With the Summer in full force, I went looking through our archives to find a session we had not shared yet that fit with the season. That's where I realized that Jess and Bill's beach engagement session was still unpublished. Not anymore!

Engagement portraits on the beach can be tricky. If you do them at the wrong time it could be too hot, wind could be a factor in hair flying everywhere, a whole number of things could go wrong. This session turned out just right, though! First, we met a little after the Summer so we were able to avoid the crowds but still get the beach, the sand and the boardwalk portraits that Jess wanted. Then, they brought a few different outfit options so we could get a Summer-y look and a Fall look in the same session!

And they brought Bill's son, Connor, to help add some goofiness to the portraits!

Enjoy.

Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Julia & Ross's Valley Green Inn Wedding

*Posted by Theresa*

Here at Fairmount we usually work with couples that live in Philadelphia or the surrounding area, but every so often we'll hear from an engaged couple that lives a few states away who happen to be getting married in the city. In the case of Julia and Ross, 'a few states away' meant New Mexico!

The two brought things back to where it all began (they met in Chestnut Hill) for their wedding at Valley Green Inn. You could definitely tell that these two were meant for each other! Family and friends travelled from all over the country to see them tie the knot, and you could feel the love in the air as thick as the humidity that day.

We started the day with the bride and groom at the Chestnut Hill Hotel, we did bridal party portraits along Germantown Avenue and ended the night at one of our favorite wedding venues: Valley Green Inn. And of course we did a First Look on the bridge near Valley Green Inn! The quiet, rustic atmosphere was such a perfect fit for the wedding, and kept things intimate and special. We may have had just as much fun as the guests hitting the dance floor!

Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Taryn & Chris's Manufacturer's Golf Club Wedding

Bad weather on a wedding day happens. It's unfortunate, but it does. It does NOT, however, have to ruin your wedding pictures. It is easy enough for a good photographer to adjust and make great wedding portraits in bad weather. All it takes is for the bride and groom to buy in.

That's exactly what Taryn and Chris did when the skies opened up on their wedding day a few weeks ago! Their wedding at Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club ended up being a mostly indoor affair but we were able to strategically get some outdoor wedding portraits between pockets of rain and by utilizing some overhangs for cover.

Looking at Taryn and Chris in these pictures, you could not even tell that anything was off about their wedding day. All the credit goes to them for realizing that their attitudes could affect their wedding day just as much as any weather could.

Congrats Taryn and Chris!
