I have to admit, after over a decade of working in the wedding industry, I can say that I’ve never even heard of a South Philly Serenade. Thanks to Gina and Mike, now I have!
And boy was it fun.
The basic gist is that you throw a block party (sans dumpster pools), invite family and friends and party the night away. The twist being that at some point the groom has to get up — in front of EVERYBODY — and sing his heart out to his bride-to-be. And it’s not just one song. At least this one wasn’t.
Mike (the groom) cycled through a bunch of songs while his fiance Gina initially cringed in embarrassment before getting more into it and danced along with him. She even got in on the singing!
They get hitched today so stay tuned for more pictures!
