Philadelphia Engagement Portraits| Josh & Lauren's South Philly Engagement Photos

*Posted by Matt*

Just a few weeks before their wedding I had the opportunity to venture out with Lauren & Josh to do some engagement portraits around South Philly. They've been living there for a while and love the area so they wanted to capture some of that love for the area in their pictures.

We walked the handful of blocks from their house to Passyunk Avenue and discussed what exactly it was they were hoping to achieve that day. My job was simple, make some portraits on Passyunk Avenue and surrounding streets, then head to their friend's roof deck for portraits with the Philly skyline!

Josh and Lauren are extremely easy to work with. Their sense of humor and connection to each other was obvious which made pictures almost too easy!

We did a few pictures at the P.O.P.E. (the Pub on Passyunk East, for those who don't know), as well as some of the cool little side streets. We even got a picture at the Singing Fountain right on Passyunk!

This was a great warm up for their wedding day. Check out their wedding photos here!

Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Kerri & Mark's Grounds For Sculpture Engagement Portraits

When Kerri and Mark first told me they wanted their engagement photos at Grounds For Sculpture, I was a little skeptical. I had never been to the park before and a lot of times it's not okay to just walk in and start taking pictures. But I had heard so much about the park and the potential was definitely there for great images. If you haven't been there before, the park contains a slew of larger-than-life sculptures spread out over acres of green space that you can just walk around and enjoy. Mark and Kerri live not too far from the park, so they were no strangers to it.

Now that everything is done I can honestly say that it was such a good idea.

We met up on a Sunday morning and just walked around the park, taking pictures with the normal scenery and the not-so-normal statues (like the 26-foot-tall Marilyn Monroe statue that weighs 36,000 pounds). It was really fun and the weather was nice and warm.

I definitely hope to be back there again!

Philadelphia Wedding Photography | Noel & Matt's Olde City Engagement Portraits

If you live in Philadelphia, you know that the weather this past winter was pretty brutal, I don't think anyone can argue that much. So, when Noel and Matt decided to have their engagement photos in Olde City in December, we were worried about the cold affecting them too much. However, this couple turned out to be total professionals, though.

Their main goal was to have very stylish engagement portraits to show off to their family and friends. Using the pillars and architecture of the city as a setting, Matt and Noel dressed in simple, stylish outfits and quickly shed their jackets when it was time to take pictures! We didn't venture far, only really moving within a two-block-by-two-block radius, but we were still able to capture a great variety of settings.

We started with pictures on the steps of the Second Bank of the US and then explored the city some more before ending at Independence Hall for pictures.

The whole time Noel and Matt did not let the cold affect their pictures even though we were freezing! They have wonderful pictures in a wonderful city!
